Restoring Scrivener Project Folder

I have a project that I am syncing to my Dropbox. I misunderstand how syncs work and after syncing it, I deleted the Scrivener project folder on the hard drive. Now I have a folder in Dropbox with all of the documents, but Scrivener doesn’t recognize it as a valid project. I am using Windows 11 home and Scrivener 3.1.6.

Unless you’ve emptied the trash, you should be able to go into the Recycling Bin and restore the project folder from there.

I have emptied the trash. Could I maybe create a new project, name it after the old project and copy the contents of sync folder into it?

That would potentially work, assuming we’re talking about an external folder sync that is left behind. That will have whatever text you were syncing (but settings can make it less than the entire project; maybe you were only syncing Draft for example).

I’d start with going into Options: Backup, though, and clicking the button there to open your automatic backup folder. You should find a recent copy of the project that was deleted, perhaps even the last version of it.
