i dont really have steps, but periodically, i see Scrivener (1.08) underline correctly-spelled words in red, as if they were mistyped. this happens for newly typed topics, or going back to previously typed text. clicking on the word removed the underline, and it usually doesn’t return.

Yep, it’s annoying, isn’t it? It happens to “an” a lot for some reason. Unfortunately I have no control over it, as the spell-checker is built into OS X’s text system - it is the same one used by TextEdit, Mail and others. You will see the same bug in them, unfortunately. You can report this to Apple directly at bugreport.apple.com should you so wish - I’ll try to remember to do so myself, now that you’ve reminded me.
