I am one of those guys what is still using the older version, but I am following your slow (but apparently now very definite) progress and plan to purchase the new version when you decide it is ready.
I am wondering if the colors are saved in the layout manager in the new version? I tried to save different background colors and they will not save in v1.9.16.0 but maybe I am doing something wrong?
Not a big deal, but it would be nice. I like changing the color sometimes during the longer sessions.[/b]
Layouts will fundamentally be the same in the scope of how they work. There are of course many internal changes to them as there are new features for them to keep track of, but the philosophy and usage are idential to what you have now: they save how your project window is set up—minimally the shape and layout of it, and maximally the various project settings that influence how columns are set up in the outliner and so forth.
They have nothing to do with application settings, such as whether index cards have lines, if you use inches are metric, or the colour of the binder. But you will be pleased to hear that there is a form of preset coming to those kinds of settings as well—by that I mean specifically colours and such (separate from behavioural settings). You can already save settings to files and load them later, but as you may know this saves everything, and so isn’t very convenient if you just feel like using a red based colour scheme that day.
