Scratchpad: how does one align, center, justify, change font, etc?

Scrivener 3.2.3, Catalina latest version

thanks in advance for your time and help

Select the text you want to change, and use the appropriate commands from Scrivener’s Format menu.

As a general rule, though, the Scratchpad isn’t really intended to be a full-featured editor. If you need more than basic formatting, you might be happier if you create a document in the Binder itself.

I understand. thank you. I am writing keyboard maestro macros and it is working quite well with some oddities (highlight does not work, but highlight → banana works, so it’s fine). I can basically use all formatting commands including bullets except for a few. With keyboard maestro, there are easy ways to create a substitute list of styles.
I see things a little bit differently from you. However, you are the expert and I am a dilettante

  • for certain commands like show fonts, Scrivener has to be active, which defeats the purpose of the scratchpad (which is used when Scrivener is not active, because it floats over other apps). With keyboard maestro, if I am taking notes while on a web site, I have to activate Scrivener → run show fonts (just an example) → press escape to continue → hide Scrivener
  • the purpose of the scratchpad is note taking (for me) and formatting is therefore necessary.

As an alternative, you might consider floating a Quick Reference pane.

I use the Scratchpad to make notes in apps outside Scrivener, for example reading a web site or reading references in DevonThink.
There are 2 essential features I need:

  • that the note taking app be a floating window
  • that the floating window float over other apps.
Only Scratchpad floats over other apps. The QRP only floats with Scrivener active and at the front.
I am trying to squeeze every possible Scrivener menu item I can use with the Scratchpad
    thank you for your reply.
