Scrivener 3.0 for Mac update not notified

I just receive notice of update on my iPad. As I looked at the note, it said that one of the changes was to the icon so that it looks like Scrivener 3.0 on Mac? I’m still on 2.8.1 on Mac and haven’t received any notice of update. When I went to home page on Literature & Latte I see where I can download it. BUT it’s asking for product code??? I can’t seem to find product code for the one I do have. I think part of the answer is that the iOS version was purchased through Apple App Store. I think so anyway. Is this an update that has to be purchased - sort of like Microsoft Windows used to do?

If you bought Scrivener 2 from our web store, then you will receive notification about the update tomorrow. Today we’ve been busy getting everything into place and releasing Scrivener 3, and we are snowed under just with the users who were waiting for the update. So we have made the decision to send out the automatic notification tomorrow, so that our servers (and staff!) aren’t overloaded on launch day.

If you bought Scrivener 2 from the App Store, then there would be no notification anyway because Scrivener 3 is a paid update, and the Mac App Store does not support paid updates unless you go the subscription route. We are still waiting to get Scrivener 3 through Apple’s review process (we started the process a week ago).

All the best,
Keith

Personally, I never buy an application from the apple store, nor from Microsoft unless it is one of their products like OS X or Windows/office. These stores limit my ability to update and, more importantly, they take a cut of what the creator of the program gets to keep in their pocket. I buy direct.

This. Absolutely. Would that more people understood this.
