Scrivener 3 problem with pdf & embedded fonts

Hi, Scrivener folks:

I’ve been trying to compile a pdf of a project I created in Scrivener 2, and have migrated to Scrivener 3. The compile itself is not a problem. But when I open the resulting pdf file, I get this message:

Cannot extract the embedded font ‘JPECES+Berkeley-Italic’. Some characters may not display or print correctly.

I can open and view the file. But the text type I set for the “scene” section layout, Berkeley, is not appearing when I open the file in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (Version 2018.009.20050). Not in regular and not in italic. Instead, I think I’m getting Avenir. But the display face I specified, Felix Titling, appears with no problem!

When I open the file using Preview on my Mac, the typeface is Berkeley. I tested the file by sending it to another Mac, though, and Berkeley disappeared, even when using Preview.

I’m running High Sierra, 10.13.1 on my Mac.

Any suggestions for why this is happening? Or how to fix it?

Thanks!
Jackie

Scrivener does not have the ability to embed fonts, for copyright reasons. So if the font isn’t available on the destination system a substitute will be used.

Thank you, Katherine, for the clarification.
