Because it works properly for the majority of standards compliant websites and a good percentage of those that are not.

…so you should be able to find one that works pretty quickly by yourself.

I guess the urge to be helpful wanes if the people asking for help start to get argumentative. For what it’s worth, in the Scriv project I have open I have a few web pages imported as an embedded browser. In this case a couple are news stories taken from the BBC website and there is one from a local authority website in Canada.

Honestly, though, any dedicated external browser is always going to be a ‘better’ rendering of a webpage, and often I’ll cut and paste text anyway, just to have a clean information only copy in my folder that I can read offline.

Hi, thank you for your answer. You are completely right, being argumentative does not help anybody. But in this case, at least, my posting seems to have been so provocative that somebody answered after 3 days At your suggestion I tried and managed to import bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-19246708. It worked. This shows me that the thing does not fail with every web page. Still I hope it will be improved in the future, if possible.

Two of those days were Saturday and Sunday! Also, I’m drawn to conflicts. Don’t use me as a benchmark of human kindness.
