# Scrivener crashes on startup for Big Sur.

Basically, Scrivener crashes with an unhandled exception error after upgrade to Big Sur. I have restarted. Shut down and started and scrivener bounces and then crashes. It appears to be on startup.

That’s because the Scrivener update for Big Sur compatibility hasn’t been released yet…

I can’t personally test it, because my poor mid-2010 Mac mini can’t even handle Catalina, but I was led to expect that Scrivener would at least run (albeit with some potential glitches) on Big Sur. So make sure you’re at least up-to-date with the most current version (3.1.5 as of this writing).
