Scrivener (v3.2.1 running on MacOS v10.4.6) is crashing on launch .
This started happening after I ran a script which was supposed to cause the shortcut program I use for expanding constantly-used words and phrases to stop expanding them in a slightly skewed way; however, the programmers of that app don’t think the crashes are connected.
I had a bunch of projects open - important ones to me that represent years of work - and each one is trying to open as I try to open Scrivener.
Advice eagerly sought and will be received with thanks.
It seems likely that the best thing to do to cure this would be to uninstall and reinstall Scrivener - if I’m right, where do I get the installer? (This will be maddening; I have a load of labels set up in projects and my view set to 175% in all projects and so on - presumably I’ll have to redo all of these?)
Ah, it’s ok, holding down Shift allowed Scrivener to open without all the projects and without crashing. And I was able to open one of the projects anyway to see that it was working. Thanks, that’s a wonderful tip with the shift key, Katherine.
Doesn’t matter. Whichever is more convenient for you.
Things like labels and view settings are part of the project, so should be unaffected by reinstalling Scrivener. Scrivener-level preferences should be preserved as well, but it never hurts to have an extra backup. Instructions for how to do that are here: scrivener.tenderapp.com/help/kb … references
(Just the first section, on preserving your settings. No need to actually reset them at this time.)

Edit: Posts crossed. Glad to hear you’re back on track.
The link in Katherine’s (KEWMS) first post above is the one you want. Download and unzip, then when Scrivener is not running, replace your current Scrivener application with the downloaded one.
