On my Windows10 box, I wanted to import a text file prepared on a linux box. I slid it into the Research folder on the binder and the import dialog told me about the rtf conversion. The file name then appeared in the binder. Unfortunately, the file was empty - all the text had disappeared.
I solved my immediate problem by opening the text file in LibreOffice, exporting it as rtf and then sliding it into Scrivener.
Further trials showed that I could open the text file coming from my linux box with Windows Notepad and then save it as a text file in Windows. Then the import works ok.
So my conclusion is that the Windows version of Scrivener can only import and convert text files coming from linux machines if they are first converted into Windows text files. A small handicap for collaborative working.
Edit|: sad to say, it’s not as simple as I thought. I’ve since tried several other text files from a linux source and they imported ok in Scrivener under Windows 10 without any need to change import settings for coding type or what have you.
Possibly just something odd about the particular file that gave me trouble.
Has anyone else had similar import problems ?
