Scrivener iOS syncing via Dropbox continues to crash the app

As the posts just above yours suggest, have you installed iOS 13.4? That appears to fix the issue for most people.

Katherine

I just wanted to confirm that it seems that (finally) with iOS 3.14 Scrivener does sync with Dropbox. I’ve not being able to make the app work since I change phone, so after all this time it seems it works.
So if you are still having problems, try to just update your iOS.

I was a little afraid of this sync issue, having used only MacOS and iOS until 2 months ago, when I bought an iPad Pro. I can confirm that I had no issues at all syncing everything. I have very big projects (in the number of 10+), with many documents and research meterial inside. One of them is HUGE. No issue at all with the last versions of the three operating systems (MacOS, iPadOS and iOS).
To me everything works fine. No idea if someone has older devices and cannot install the last version.

On a whim today, June 10, 2020, I tried syncing my iPad Pro 11” & miraculously the Scrivener App successfully synced over 5,000 files. Then I successfully synced my 2nd generation iPad Pro 12” & iPad Mini 5th generation, & my iPhone 11 Pro Max. All devices synced Scrivener successfully with Dropbox. Afterwards, I updated the iPhone iOS & iPad iOS to version 13.5.1. I checked the Scrivener syncing with Dropbox & everything still synced perfectly. I logged on here to see if an explanation was posted for the “fix” but it doesn’t seem there’s anything significant or specific. The mini stopped syncing Scrivener/Dropbox shortly after I bought it in November 2019, right after an iPad iOS update I installed. Scrivener worked fine prior to that.

I’m just happy something got fixed somewhere, somehow, & now everything seems to be working fine.

I still do have a problem where the syncing will crash if I would change orientation during syncing of the iPad. I’ve had this issue for a long time before the other issues, and I think it’s unrelated, so I made a different thread about it:

https://forum.literatureandlatte.com/t/dropbox-sync-crashes-when-ipad-changes-rotation-during-sync/50333/1

Since it was and always had been an iOS bug, there was nothing Lit&Lat could do about it, so no “fix” for them to report here! Just be thankful Apple finally got round to fixing it.

I wasn’t expecting a reply from Literature & Latte taking responsibility, I just thought perhaps their support people had possibly tracked down the cause of the issue in cooperation with Apple & Dropbox. Thanks.

There was nothing for L&L to track as only a small minority of users was affected and there was not not one, single, easily identifiable characteristic that was common for all who had sync problems.

The fix was as mysterious as the problem itself. There was never anything we could track down, nor do I suspect Dropbox had anything to track down either—if they were even aware of it. Best speculation is that it was a hardware bug that cause RAM issues in some devices.

Here is a summary post for this thread, and a few posts down a reiteration of dispelling common misconceptions. Seeing as how the last real update with information in this thread is lost on page 25, and there isn’t much point in any further discussion here, I’m locking this thread so that this will be the last post.

Thanks again to everyone that helped troubleshoot the problem in the past.
