Scrivener not responding when I take snapshot

When I try to take a snapshot I get the spinning wheel and have to force Scrivener to quit. Working in the most recent versions of Scrivener and Mac OS. Am I doing something wrong?

There is a rare issue with playing media through the system (there is a camera snapshot sound file that is played). Try disabling that in the Behaviors: Snapshots and see if that solves the problem. You might also want to enable visual notifications as well, so that you get some indication of it working.

Thanks. Disabling the sound and enabling the visual notification works! Sorta like the sound but can live without it.

It’s been so long since I’ve seen a case of this, I doubt this is terribly relevant any more, but here is the thread on it:

Add Snapshot hangs Scrivener

OS X 10.7.4 Scrivener v.2.2 (15858) This seems to reproduce the problem reported in this section by cwoac on Wed April 18 2012 (“hang on add snapshot”). When I click the button to add a snapshot, the button itself remains highlighted and Scrivener hangs. If I switch to another application, then switch back, Scrivener is invisible apart from the top menu bar. I have no option except to Force Quit. Scrivener’s console.log file is empty.

In short, it might “fix itself” the next time you reinstall the OS or upgrade.
