Scrivener "Not Responding"

(Win 7, HP Pavillion dx7)
After downloading v.1.7.1.0 and mashing the open button, I got an error message (shoulda done a screen shot… something about a corrupted file…) so I clicked HELP > CHECK FOR UPDATES and reinitialized the download. Afterwards, no error message but Scrivener wouldn’t open. Not from the shortcut, not from PROGRAMS. Nothing.

After rebooting, it seemed for a while as if nothing would happen, again… but as I was bringing up Lit & Lat to make a check for insight (maybe I was holdin’ my mouth wrong or somethin’?), the thing opened.

Just sayin’.

As you’re on Windows, you’re more likely to get a quick and useful answer if you posted in the Windows forum … this is the Mac forum.
