Best piece of advice you’ll receive on this…Throw Scrivener in the garbage and use Google Docs. I switched to Scrivener a coupe weeks ago after using Google Docs for almost a decade and have instantly regretted it. Reliability is everything when it comes to writing. I have never lost a single word of text in Google Docs over the last decade and the fact that people talk about Scrivener losing your work like its some sort of rite of passage is alarming to me. Its crazy to me how many people are on here listing their hoops that they jump through just to earn the right to keep their prose.
You also haven’t ever seen a story about your writing being scraped from Scrivener or authors getting locked out of ongoing projects due to “content violations”, two controversies we have seen with Google Docs in recent years 
. Not to mention the heinous lag you must suffer if you have the audacity to scroll in a document that goes into the double (or triple 
) digits for page count. Every tool has ups and downs.

I think it was for the project I just had the major problems with, but I haven’t checked all the others.
Google Docs has edited my files in bizarre ways several times. It’s also very clunky for large projects, in my experience.

The only time I ever lost writing in Scrivener was when I kicked the switch on the extension cord beneath my desk. And I only lost half a scene in the file that I was writing at that moment.
Writers that don’t have trouble using Scrivener don’t come here for help, they just keep on writing.
