Scrivener still fails to run in any version

Having the same failure in 1.9 to run as I did with 1.7. I get “Scrivener.exe has stopped working” and that’s it when I try to start the program.

Using Vista Home Premium with all updates.

1.7 worked for a couple of days then stopped. I am seriously astounded as well as clueless and really want this program back in my world. HELP!!! I’M MELTING!!!

Here’s the Event Log stuff, at least what I could find.

Faulting application Scrivener.exe, version 0.0.0.0, time stamp 0x4d71562c, faulting module QtCore4.dll, version 4.7.0.0, time stamp 0x4d658dc4, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0001f3bf, process id 0x1454, application start time 0x01cbdb6c9b611898.

New info… Instead of opening S directly I double-clicked a project file. And the program opened. I did this a couple of times and it worked. Then I tried to open S from the shortcut - and the program opened.

Hopefully the problem is solved, but what causes such behavior? Anyone? Don’t be shy.

If I try to open a project from the Recent Files submenu, S crashes as above. If I select a project that was previously opened, S runs.

Rick16 at [url]https://forum.literatureandlatte.com/t/beta-1-7-1-8-unable-to-open/11633/1] notes a similar problem after trying to import a large file. I had copied into S 36 chapters from a .doc Word 2010 file just before this problem began. I’m still unable to access it.

I converted that large file into a plain text file and took out the section breaks. Then S imported it with no problems.
