Scrivener Version 3 in the pipeline?

Just been having a look at the timeline of releases. (For the Mac, which is the main feature driver for the software)

Version 1.0 - Released 20th Jan 2007
Version 2.0 - Released 1st Nov 2010
Version 3.0 - ???

The “date between calculator” -

Shows 1381 days between version 1 and 2.

It has now been 1269 days since version 2.0 was released (up to 23rd Apr 2014)

Is Version 3 shortly in the offing with some new shiny features?

We don’t have any news to share on 3.0 at this time, other than that there will certainly one day be a version 3.0.

FYI - To keep with the now established “tradition” of 1381 days between full releases, you would need to release Scrivener 3.0 on…

How can it be an `established tradition’ if it’s only happened once? You can’t base an induction on a single calculation.

I know you’re only kidding. Me too.

The aforementioned date is quite correct indeed, in spite of the blatant bending of common induction rules.

Furthermore, version 3 will include the long awaited WFGSFTB button (Write a Freaking Good Synopsis From the Tree Below) and WPSCCS button (Write a Perfect Scene by Current Commercial Standards).

Unfortunately, the WMN button (Write My Novel) will have to wait until version 4 is released, but the other buttons will serve as a workaround on the meantime.

I sure hope vic-k is not providing logic for WMN…

Resurrected to crowdshare my sadness that another year has passed without a new version

Wow, has it been over a year since this thread was started already? Shocking. Frankly, we daren’t start talking about any putative 3.0 until the iOS version is out, or we’ll be lynched. But, just to show that I haven’t been sitting on my laurels, a quick screenshot of what I’m working on right now.

For the record, though, I doubt we’ll have any official news about a major new version until 2016, as we have the iOS version to finish and a lot more work to do on any new major version (should one exist  ). Much of the delay has also been caused by changes under the hood made by Apple to OS X - I’ve been rewriting a lot to ensure Scrivener is as future-proof as possible (just short of porting the whole thing to Swift!).

(especially that whole “add Back Matter” nonsense)

Back matter? Is that a polite way of saying wotssit … y’ know … thingy? :open_mouth:

Vic-k, you have a dirty, dirty mind

This looks much easier to work with that the current system. Nice work.
