Seemingly out of the blue, my scrivener app won’t open. None of my .scriv docs are accessible. please advise.

using mac osx 10.13.4
i already tried uninstalling and reinstalling.
i tried rebooting and tried safe mode.
After reinstalling, the next best thing to try is resetting your preferences. This will not only restore a factory new condition, it will cause any projects that were opening automatically to no longer to do so. If that works, and you can launch to the “New Project” window, then try loading the most recent project.
