Scroll Positions Not Saved Between Documents

Version: 2.9.0.44 Beta (876128) 64-bit - 26 Mar 2020

I have around 100 scenes in my manuscript. Let’s say I jump in one to edit, I’ve scrolled around a little but haven’t changed anything yet-- and then I need to check something in another scene, say the previous one-- so I click on it and I’m scrolling around, find what I need-- and then click back to the first scene, it is NOT at the scroll position where I left it. NOR, if I click again on the previous one, is IT in the same position where I left it.

I presume (but haven’t actually investigated far enough to know) that they are getting reset to their last saved positions, and when I step out and come back, I’m being returned to that same saved position.

The previous version (1,29 or whatever it is) would remember wherever it was when I left it.

It scrolls back to your cursor position. So, if you put the cursor in the place you want to return to, it will do next time you open this document.

Something I just noticed in the beta, and that is different from the behavior of 1.9, is that the 1.9 will put the line with the cursor at the bottom of the screen while the beta positions the line with the cursor in the center of the screen if possible.

Another difference is that in 1.9 you can switch the focus from the Binder to the Editor by clicking on the scrollbar, and thus see where the cursor is positioned, but the same is impossible in the beta. In the beta, you have to use the Ctrl+Tab shortcut to switch the focus instead of using your mouse or you risk to inadvertently change the cursor’s position.

Could Typewriter Mode accidentally be turned on in the beta?

Restoring the cursor at the center of the editor, if possible, is by design.
