Hi, I noticed today that while typing in the editor the scroller or scroll bar on the side pops into view distractingly. I hadn’t noticed this before, so I’m guess it’s a fairly new bug—might anyone know how to fix?
I did some internet searching for you and noted that scroll bars are controlled by Apple’s macOS. I don’t know any history of changes in macOS that may have made this appear recently for you. I don’t know how any possible changes in scrollbar setting by the operating system may have affected Scrivener’s display or control of scroll bar settings.
Go to Apple Icon → System Settings → Appearance and experiment with the available scroll bar settings to see what suits you. Here is what macOS 13.7 shows. Other versions may be different.
Thank you for looking into this. Before I saw your reply, I happened to open the Scrivener Tutorial out of curiosity, to see if it was happening there as well, and it was not. This made me think there might be something corrupted or wrong with the file I was working in. So I copied it, giving it a different name, and opened that version. Scrivener did some sort of “re-indexing” upon opening the copied version and voilà—no more appearing scroller! Here’s hoping it stays that way. (Getting very tired of having to engage in troubleshooting when I’m supposed be working).
Hi, so I’m replying to my original post, since the same issue has returned. This time, however, I have noticed that the Scroller only behaves in this unexpected way—appearing when it should not—when BOTH the Inspector and Binder are in view. Hiding one or both of these elements seems to cause the bug to stop. Has this been noticed by anyone else?
