Search option in binder

Hello! I use and love Scrivener every day in my Master thesis, and in hobby writing of literature. But one thing I miss a lot, a search option in binder (Cmd F).

In my master I have a lot of documents, and sometimes I loose control where they are, when I have moved them around. It isn’t enough to search in content, because the same words are everywhere.

I need to search in document names too, is it possible to make this in an update? (If the option already is there, I apologize and ask how to find it.)

Thanks a lot!

Hi,

What’s wrong with using the search field in the toolbar?

All the best,
Keith

Add a Ctrl key to that Cmd-F and you’ll have just what you want, I suspect. If the toolbar is visible, it will just move the cursor up there, otherwise it will open a little project search window. In both cases, you can click on the magnifying glass icon to reveal a wide array of options, allowing you to constrain your search by parts of document (like just the title), or parts of project, and also some adjustments to how the search string itself is handled.

This will produce a search list of matching documents in the Binder area, and if it is a search you do often, you can use the magnifying glass menu again to save it, and it will become a little saved shortcut in the Binder you can double-click on to run it again.

Thank you to both of you, and thanks even more to Amber. The options under the magnifying glass was what I needed. I should know from photoshop that under a triangle there are options, but sometimes one needs help to see. If I mark search in “title”, I get the document names only, and not the content. Just needed to find out that “title” was the same as document name. Problem solved! Thanks!
