I’d like to be able to search a large Scrivener document not only by words or phrases:

as well, it would be great to be able to call up all sections of the document which have the same icon.

In a large document with many headings and subheadings, it is not possible to use the Binder to see all the items with the same icon on one screen.

This could be used to browse the content of these search results/ to see common themes/ to check for duplication of ideas across a document.

I’m not sure how you use the icons in your project and whether this would help, but one thing I’ve done is create a custom meta-data field for file type that I fill in when I import work (or, if I’m lazy and forgetful, at some later date when I can do it in batches and procrastinate on real work). Searching on the custom meta-data then lets me quickly pull up all the pdfs, images, web pages, etc. that I’ve imported into the project.
