Set custom dictionary (or style?) entry?

Scrivener n00b here.

I am writing a piece that involves using the names of many bacteria, e.g., E. coli, S. aureus. Scrivener routinely interprets the period in those abbreviations at the end of a sentence, and capitalizes the second term. I can manually correct it, but to have to do it so often is irritating.

Is there a fix? Can I create a custom dictionary or style entry that will tell the program not to make that capitalization? Thanks.

Yes, you can switch this feature off if it is getting in the way of what is proper for your material. The option is in the Corrections preference pane: Fix capitalization of sentences.
