Is there a shortcut for non-breaking space similar to the one in MS Word (ctrl-shift-space) that I haven’t found?
Else I would definitely suggest adding this in the next version.

There is not at the moment, but it is on the list–ultimately we would like to have all menu commands available for customisable shortcuts. Meanwhile, you can add a non-breaking space via the Edit > Insert menu.
