Show label color in document tree (on the left)

I find the label and status features in the panel for each document useful. I classify my text with labels corresponding to actoins which I still have to do on it (rewriting, proof reading, etc.). I’d wish to be able to visually see the label and/or the status of all texts in the index or document tree on the left. This could be easily done for labels, as they are classified by color. My preference would be to a small color dot in front of each document title of the index.
Tell me if the suggestion is clear.

The "document tree on the left " is called the Binder. You can already accomplish this three ways:

  • To color the icon (not only in the Binder but everywhere icons are used) select View->Use Label Color In->Icons from the menu bar.
  • To add the colored dot you asked for, select View->Use Label Color In->Binder from the menu bar.
  • To use the label color as the background for Binder items instead, after adding the colored dot as above, also select View->Use Label Color In->Show as Background Color in Binder

A suggestion : if you haven’t already, please consider working though the Interactive Tutorial, found in the Help menu. You’ll learn a lot about how Scrivener works and about what things are called, so you’ll need less help and will be able to ask for it more clearly when you do. :wink:

Thanks Silverdragon for your reactiveness. That did help indeed! I implemented two of the suggestions.
I will go through the interactive tutorial. One reason I didn’t have the vocabulary right (such as “binder”) is that I am using a version localized in French. Binder is “catalogue” for me.

And by the way in the View menu (Présentation), “Show as background colour in Binder” is the only sub-item not translated into French. It could be something as “Utiliser comme couleur d’arrière-plan dans le Catalogue”.

Aha! I apologise for assuming you were a native English speaker. :blush: Sadly, I am only another user like yourself, and not an L&L employee. So, I can’t do anything about the translation. May I suggest you post the suggested translation for “Show as background colour in Binder” in the Bug Hunt (Mac) forum?
