I’m test generating my novel for kindle (mobi file). I was using a temporary cover for a while, but I’ve since received the “final” cover. I deleted the temp cover from the project and added the final one. When I generate the mobi file, the full-size final cover shows up just fine at the beginning of the book. But the small cover icon in my kindle library is still a small version of the temp cover. I’ve deleted the mobi, tried adding it under a different name, I’ve checked that the old cover isn’t still in the research folder. I can’t figure out where Kindle is getting the old cover image from.
Answered my own question. Kindle caches the thumbnail, in C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local\Amazon\Kindle\Cache\covers . Even though I was deleting and renaming the project output, I guess the internal ID was still the same. Once I deleted the entry from that directory, it generated a new (proper) one.
