- In Chinese text, the cursor cannot be placed after the last word,
- When using MathType, the formula content cannot be displayed completely.
- Chinese word count error.
As I kind of suspected from a small knowledge of Chinese characters from life in Korea, it looks pretty unlikely that an actual word count could be put into Scrivener.
In fact, even Microsoft Word doesn’t do it. It does offer a character count, as does Scrivener.
I found some material from translators suggesting that 1000 Chinese characters equates usually to about 700 English words.
I realize this isn’t a measure of actually Chinese words either, especially due to difference in what amounts to grammar, but maybe the ratio can be a useful measure, depending on how you are publishing.
I’m not with the Scrivener team; just interested.
Just to note for better detail, and so KunKun’s excellent reporting doesn’t get lost, since it’s not getting ‘filed’ and given appropriate LH numbersyet:

I commented on the Chinese word-count vs. character-count only – that one is likely not something that can be implemented, and the reasoning needs to be understood.
Very likely explanation should go into the Documentation so it can be resolved by someone running into the problem. I don’t think it will come with Korean customary writing; not sure about Japanese always, or other languages which use the characters but are not Chinese at this point in a very long history.
