Just got this message when trying to upload an image to help answer a forum-user’s question…
Had to delete a load of old images to be able to add a new image. Now those old threads have lost images that might have helped other Scrivener users. Seems counterintuitive and counterproductive to me. But just me?
Rose.
I’ve just added an attachment, A big one ,too, and it seemed ok. I deleted it cos it was huge.I’ll find another and see wot!!?
Seems to be OK. Are you saying it’s your deletions that make it possible for me to add an attachment?
Are all images the same as uploaded attachments.?
Hadn’t thought of it that way. I took the message to mean that I had reached a personal threshold in terms of permitted uploads, rather than a limit for everyone on the entire board. As you can upload attachments, I assume it definitely was a personal limit that I had reached. I am too CMD SHIFT 4 happy, it seems. Appreciate your help.
Hi Ioa
Many thanks. As a L&L demiurge 8) , can you recover the pics I deleted from my account yesterday, so that the threads they relate to aren’t showing placeholders only?
I was querying whether or not your deletions made space available that prior to you deleting your attachments, was no longer there. I was dreading having to wade through all the asinine rubbish I’ve uploaded over the years. I shouldn’t really be nowty with Ioa, he has saved me a load of hassle. My hummmmbllemummmblee apoloooogiessss Ioa. Gawwwd!! that was painful.
I don’t see any way to restore attachments that have been deleted. There isn’t a “trash” bit, they are simply fully removed.
It might be a good idea to use external hosting for images going forward. I used attachments now and then for things that feel like “extras” to the post, but if it is an illustration of what I’m writing, I put the image on a server (well, in this case the literatureandlatte.com server, but prior to being able to do that I would host them on my personal server) and then use an img tag to refer to them. The traffic wasn’t really a problem since they only get served to the few dozen people that view an average thread.
No no no nono! goodness gracious, no. It’s blame Ioa week. Anyway, that’s wot feckless mods are for. Better than blaming ourselves … init? We don’t wanna get in to the self recrimination scenario, d’ we? That avenue’s like an obstacle course, strewn with psychological baggage.
No, no. Today is don’t blame Ioa day, tomorrow we go back to the regular state of affairs where we blame him for everything (I’ve almost worked out the chain of events that explain how he caused WWI).
I was going to suggest WayBackMachine.com, but it seems the forum’s robot.txt file prevents archiving by waybackmachine.
Good thing I didn’t recommend it…

Well, the rationale behind ‘Blame Ioa Week’ isn’t carved onto tablets of stone. It’s actually a pretty malleable one, as I pointed out to piggy:
You can start the "Blame Ioa Week’ on any day that best fits into your general scheme of things, just ensure it last for at least 14 days. Easy … init, eh?
