I see several feature requests similar to this, but I don’t believe this specific one… Ability to sort Documents in the Binder (Draft) area would be extremely useful to me… thanks! Eric
Well you can do this. It is not done through the binder but it gets you what you want.
Click on your Draft/Manuscript Folder and go into Outliner mode. Here you will see all your folders or documents, if you don’t have folders. You can sort on what ever column you want and add other columns to the view by going to View -> Outliner Columns -> Then select the ones you want.
If you want an alphabetical title sort click that column header. This will obviously make changes in the Outliner. So to have that sort order reflected back into the binder simply click on one of the items in Outliner and then hit the control + A to select all. Or Edit menu -> select all. You can then drag these items into your binder on top of the Draft/Manuscript folder. It will rearrange the folders in the order you sorted in Outliner mode.
For more detailed instructions search the Manual under “Sorting by Columns.” Since you are on the windows version I am not sure what chapter or page number it is.
Now just an FYI. This only sorts the parent folders. Sub-contents will not be sorted due to obvious reasons so you can do this with each folder individually or as I suggested, what ever you need.
Hope that helps!
Regards,
Michael
Actually, you can sort alphabetically in the binder (and the outliner way described above won’t yet work for Windows, as the outliner columns aren’t currently sortable). In the binder, select the container whose top level documents/folders you want to sort, then choose Documents > Sort >Ascending. This applies for both Mac and Windows.
