I’m a big fan of Scrivener’s ability to open a full screen editing window on a secondary screen – it’s great to be able to plug my laptop into an external monitor and have my draft open in full-screen while my notes are open on the other monitor. But I’m also an avid Spaces user when my laptop isn’t sitting on my desk at home. What I would love would be for Scrivener to be Spaces-aware in the sense of being able to open a full-screen window in a different Space than the main window. It would be great to be able to keep the same workflow whether I’m at home or traveling.
Thanks – I know the wish list for Scrivener must be a mile long but I’m hoping that this might be a small addition that would be a huge benefit to me and hopefully others!
Scrivener already does play pretty nicely with Spaces. You can’t specify a location for just the full-screen view, but you could always just move the main application window to where you want, right?
Having full screen open on a secondary monitor makes lots of sense - you can view it alongside the main window, and you can even open documents in full screen by opt-clicking on items in the binder in the main window on the other monitor. But you’d have none of these advantages if full screen was open on another virtual screen in Spaces. You wouldn’t want to switch to another space just so you could opt-click on a file to open it in full screen and then switch back - you may as well just use Go To from the menu or hit escape to exit full screen and return to the main window, select your document and hit opt-cmd-F again - much quicker than switching between spaces. You also wouldn’t be able to refer to the other window; you’d have to switch back and forth. In either case, unlike with a dual monitor setup, there is no advantage to having full screen open in a separate Space to the main window.
