I’ve noticed that the spell check failure bug, at least in my installation, is limited only to the regular Scrivener document editing window. Switching to Compose mode immediately causes the errors to be flagged. Exporting and opening in another editor immediately causes the errors to be flagged. The same error in a Note is flagged. Has there been any thought about some setting, etc., that will cure the bug in the main editing window? By the way, the bug is intermittent, but what triggers it is a mystery to me.

Yes, it does seem limited to only the main window in certain projects, which is why it points to a bug in Lion’s auto-save code/resume code. Please take a look a this thread for some suggestions:
Okay - 2.2.0.5 seems to have cured the spell check / replacement bug. I’ve been using it for the past two days and it works perfectly. (I also first tried deleting the SavedState file, but that had no effect.)
