Spelling check

I find the Scrivener integrated spelling and grammatical check to be quite inferior to e.g. MS Word. When I am exporting my manuscript to Word (because I work with co-authors), Word located a lot of errors that any decent spelling software should catch. Also, the few times Scrivener underlines a word, I does not have any suggestion. Have I not activated something accurately here? Can I use another dictionary/spelling software to be integrated with Scrivener?

Any recommendations would be very welcome!

Scrivener uses the basic Mac tools for grammar and spell checking. Speaking strictly of the technology, yes it is possible to install third-party spell check in such a way that it impacts most of your Mac software, including Scrivener. I couldn’t give you any recommendations myself, as I’ve never looked into it.
