I’ve checked correct spelling errors as I write in preferences and the edit option. But it still doesn’t correct spelling errors. Any suggestions please?
Scrivener uses the spellcheck tools built into macOS, so a good first step is to check whether spellcheck is working as expected in TextEdit (an application native to macOS, which also uses these tools). If you find it works okay there, then its likely you’ve run into this known issue. In that case, try closing and reopening the project if you haven’t already.
Thanks for your suggestion. Autocorrect works in Text Edit but not in Scrivener. I closed and reopened the project but it didn’t work still. I even deleted the app and downloaded it again but still no luck 
After researching early comments which had the same issue as me I discovered that the Grammarly app is the problem. It somehow overrides spelling autocorrect. Having deleted the Grammarly app I’ve now got spelling autocorrect working again.
