Spinning wheel popping up constantly

I’m on macOS, I’ve updated to 3.4 and my laptop is new. In the last few days, I’ve begun getting the spinning wheel. Now it happens almost whenever I move my cursor and even before I click on an action. Help!

I had something similar not in Scrivener but Firefox (my web browser). It doesn’t happen now. My machine had been running continuously for 50+ days. After a reboot normality returned.

Thanks. I shut the computer down and rebooted, and it’s fine now.

Without trying to start a flame war about how often to re-boot a Mac … Macs benefit by re-booting. Re-booting is good. I’m glad this resolve the issue for you.

When the system shutdown it does stuff. What? Dunno. Ask Apple or look on Internet. I just understand stuff is done. Then when it restarts, the computer is “fresh”.

I restart my iMac at least once a week (and sometimes more if I’m doing heavy-duty number-crunching when application space sometimes runs out), and MacBook when I’m done with it for the day. “your mileage may vary”.
