Can one edit “the standard empty project with no presets” (the ‘template’ that produces new projects by default)?

I know I can make templates to suit my every whim. Just wondering whether the default can be changed–just to be able to skip a step when opening a new project, i.e. just hitting return rather than first ticking the template I want. I’d like to have my own standard empty project a bit different from what comes as the standard empty project.

No, you can’t change the “Empty Project” template - that just uses in the built-in defaults without looking up any template information. As you note, you need to create your own template and choose it from the list that appears.
