Standard Navigation Key Combos

Hey guys,

Quick suggestion. In a lot of other apps, it works like this:

Home key: Goes to start of line
End key: Goes to end of line
Cmd-Left: Same as Home key
Cmd-Right: Same as End key
Cmd-Home: Goes to start of document
Cmd-End: Goes to end of document

It would really be helpful if Scrivener better adhered to this paradigm. As it is, I’m constantly doing the wrong things to navigate my documents; it’s irritating that I have to learn one set of navigational shortcuts for every other program, and another set for Scrivener. Is there any possibility that is could be fixed in an update soon?

Not really, no. The Scrivener shortcuts are Mac standards, and all are defined by the OS X text system with no code in Scrivener touching them. It sounds as though you are using a lot of non-Apple programs that are not sticking to the standard Mac paradigm as Scrivener is. :slight_smile: If you want to get your hands dirty trying to adjust the text system key bindings, though, take a look at my post here:
