Strange page insert in compiled manuscript.

I tried compiling my WIP and then previewing it before print last night. What I noticed is that between chapters 2 and 3, I have one whole blank page separating the two. It doesn’t do this with any other pages.

Is this because of spacing or amount of text on one of the sheets? It’s really annoying. I’ve tried looking at all the settings and everything seems, except for this one additional page which I don’t want.

Cheers,

Jon

The answer would depend on a combination of your folder structure within the binder, and your settings, but a few things you might want to check:

  1. Are there any empty folders or documents in your binder between those chapters that could be causing the problem?

  2. Does your Chapter 2 file (or last file, if you have a Chapter 2 folder) have carriage returns at the end of the document? If these carriage returns happened to wrap over a page, and your export settings start each chapter on a new page, then that could cause the blank page.

Otherwise, let us know what your binder structure looks like, and we might be able to give you more specific advice - there is nothing in Scrivener specifically designed to affect Chapters 2 and 3

I had a similar issue with a document imported from another word processor. The culprit turned out to be hard page returns carried over in the import into Scrivener. I moved the cursor to the last line in the chapter, and clicked past the end; the cursor would disappear. I’d then backspace until the cursor reappeared at the end the line, re-compile and voila, no more blank page. Worked for almost all of them.

Oh, forgot about those import/carriage return quirks. I’ll check on that! Thanks!
