Stuck on Vertical Split

When I split screen horizontally, Scrivener works as expected, but once I “un-split” it defaults to vertical view every time (the little upper right box with the line through it). In older versions it always defaulted to the last used split view, but now I always reverts to vertical and I have to alt-click every time I want a horizontal split. Perhaps I’ve selected some option by mistake?

Version: 2.9.9.5 Beta (909024) 64-bit - 28 Apr 2020

Confirm. I vaguely remember that it would split with the last used split type(clicking the little icon would toggle). It now defaults to vertical.Annotation 2020-04-28 134127.png
FWIW, you can use the keyboard combo to do the horizontal split (default is Ctrl++) or the vertical split (default is Ctrl+Shift+ (the single quote key)).

Glad it’s not my imagination. The alt-click works fine for now, but I do miss the old behavior and not having to stop to take an extra step. I tried to just give in to settling for vertical, but it’s too narrow and having to constantly resize the window is not an option. Thx for confirming.
