Substitute invalid doctitle characters when exporting to files

Greetings Team Scrivener

It’s not unusual for document titles to contain characters that are invalid in filenames. Scriv’s strategy is truncation, thus in my Words Distinguished folder:

Flout vs. Skirt is exported as Flout vs.html
i.e. vs. e.g. vs. viz. is saved as i.html

And now I find that I.Q. tests likewise is exported as i.html, overwriting the previous exported file without notice. So I’d say this is a bug fix request as well as a wish list item.

Could Scrivener perhaps refer to a character substitution table for filenames when exporting its documents to files?

Thanks for considering!

Jerome

Since the problem is actually filename truncation rather than character substitution, it’s recast in Bug Hunt (Windows) as

Export to file prompts using wrong filename, truncates at first period
