Support for Mac OS 14 Sonoma?

Has the Scrivener team tested Mac OS Sonoma?

Why do you need to know now and what is your concern?

macOS 14 has a while to go till released.

The reply will be the same as every year  They are testing it, of course, but will wait until it’s officially released until they ship a Scrivener version with any specific fixes (if they’re even needed).

And of course nobody should run a beta OS for anything important ¯\(ツ)/¯

I was considering downloading the beta, but if your team hasn’t tested it yet I’ll wait.

Which includes, in our case, even testing Scrivener.

We’ve found it to be counter-productive to even try this early in the year, as almost all of the issues we run into are Apple bugs that get sorted out by the end. There have been years where it won’t even launch until mid-Summer.

Thanks, Amber. That’s all I needed to know.

Found this thread from a couple of months’ ago. With macOS 14 Sonoma release only a few days away (26 Sept), is your advice to wait until you have tested it? Or can we go ahead and update the OS?

Advice is always to wait a bit. But if you absolutely need the new features then upgrading up to you. I usually wait for a month or so which gives time for apps that may have trouble catch up.

Thank you, understood.

It works just fine, as far as I can tell. I will update on Monday. Don’t do the same without backups, if it’s your only machine and if your life depends on it. There’s no shame in waiting.

That’s encouraging, thank you.

ALWAYS BACK UP!!!

Cheers
