Hi
After updating to the latest version I can’t perform my system-wide shortcut (Cmd and >) to switch between multiple open windows anymore. While the shortcut still works in all other applications, Scrivener now just reduces the font size by one point when performing this shortcut. How can I get this working again?
Help much appreciated!
Your system might use a different universal shortcut than mine, but for me the universal window switching shortcut is Cmd-` (backtick). On my keyboard this makes sense because it is right above the tab key, which is the application switching shortcut key.
At any rate, you can always smooth over any wrinkles like this in Apple’s menu customisation tool. It’s located in the Keyboard System Preference pane, under the “Keyboard Shortcuts” tab. Simply add overrides to Scrivener in the Application Shortcut area to resolve any conflicts. Moving “Zoom In” to another combination should fix this.
Dear AmberV
Thank you very much for your hints! Yes I assume Cmd-`is standard for US-keybords, I’m using a German one. Unfortunately the proposed workaround does’nt seem to be possible since there’s no menu command for switching to the next window, so you can’t change it by customizing the keyboard shortcuts within the Keyboard System Preference. Any additional suggestions very welcome.
Ioa’s suggestion should work all the same, though–if you change the shortcut for Scrivener’s “Zoom In” via the application shortcuts in System Preferences: Keyboard, then it will stop conflicting with your system shortcut and you should be in the clear.
