Hello mavens
I just received the dread notice included here. Reassurance: the version on my mac is fine. BUT I work in the library from my iPad, and of course who knows what work there was lost. And it’s inconvenient because I couldn’t work on the IPad. So what did I do to cause this? What can I do to preventy it happening again?
PS My Mac version is set to save and close after 2 hours. So I didn’t mess around on two different versions with one open. Thanks for your help!
I’m guessing you are using the third-party Dropbox service to sync between your Mac and iPad.
See Problems with Sync from MacBook to iPad
In summary:
- The problem on the iPad, based on the screen shot, is that you have an incomplete sync.
- Try first to re-boot the iPad. This may be all that is needed. After start allow Dropbox time to complete sync.
- The problem could be be incomplete sync up to Dropbox, or incomplete sync down to iPad.
- In the post above, see the link to troubleshooting ideas provided by L&L.
edit. re point 2. reboot mac also in case the Dropbox syncs failed there.

Make sure you sync the project upon open. If you go to Scrivener Settings (in the Settings app), you can go in the Syncing & Sharing settings and turn on Auto-Detect changes, Sync Projects on Close, Check Dropbox on Project Open, all of which reduce the chances of a sync issue.
It’s possible there was a Dropbox hiccup and it just didn’t finish syncing from your computer. Unfortunately, even if you do everything right, you can still encounter issues from time to time. Is it syncing properly now, or are you still having issues?
