Sync With Dropbox

I sometimes have an issue where I write something on the iOS version of Scrivener and sync it to Dropbox, and it’s all good and well. But then when I get back to my computer, Dropbox does not sync fully. So even though I get a notification that I have added files to Dropbox, when I go to open up the file from the Dropbox folder on my computer, it is still an old version. And because it syncs automatically when I open it, the old version automatically saves back to Dropbox over my newer file. Does anyone else have this issue, or know how to fix it? I may not be explaining it very well. But I really need a Dropbox Sync button I can press on my Mac the same way it appears on my iPad and iPhone, so I can make sure I’m always working with the most updated version of the file.

File -> Sync -> With Mobile Devices, maybe?

Personally, I recommend shutting down Scrivener on the Mac if you’re going to be away from it for an extended period, for exactly this reason. You can configure the Scrivener -> Preferences -> General ->Automatic Quit setting to do this for you.

I am having this same problem but in reverse. I have been mostly using Scrivener IOS on my iPad and saving to Dropbox. When I tried to open that project in Scrivener on my desktop Mac, it doesn’t show the project anywhere. When I try to open it from DropBox I get an error message that the file cannot be opened and is missing its binder.scriv files (or something like that). The projects that I can see on my desktop scrivener are different than the ones that I can see on my iPad and iPhone.
Any suggestions for how to get the desktop in sync with my iPad and iPhone?

Is the Dropbox software installed on the Mac? You can’t open a project from the Dropbox web interface.
