'Synch' with iTunes between laptop and iPad

The only topic answer I could find was from three years ago and the answer doesn’t seem to work.

I have a mac and an iPad. I can move the files between the two and access with either the mac or the iPad version of Scrivener. That said, once I make changes either in the mac or the iPad, I can’t ‘synch’ the project so that changes show up. I end up with two of the same project open and can’t figure out how to put them together.

I can’t seem to find any answers directly on point. I’d rather not have to use dropbox.

Thanks for any assistance.

Yes, ending up with two copies of the project is the expected behavior.

If you follow good sync practices, and always transfer the project before switching devices, you will always know which version of the project is current. That’s the best practice, even if you were using Dropbox.

If you’re using Scrivener 3 for the Mac, there is also a “Merge Projects” feature that you may find helpful.

Hi Katherine,

Thank you for the quick response.

Where is the ‘merge projects’ feature? That sounds like exactly what I need.

It’s an option to the File -> Import -> Scrivener Project command.

Discussed in more detail in Section 5.1.7 of the Scrivener manual, which I would suggest reading to make sure you understand what it can and can’t do.
