synopsis outline missing from "format as"

Following the instructions in the manual I wanted to compile my synopsis, but when I open compile (FILE/COMPILE) and click on FORMAT AS: there is no choice for synopsis.
Can you advise as to what I’m doing wrong?

Could you please point me to the spot in the manual where it says you should use the “Format As” menu to select “Synopsis Outline”? I can’t find that in the PDF, myself. It is a preset available on the Mac, but it hasn’t been implemented on the PC yet and should be omitted from the manual.

At any rate, you don’t need a preset to do this, in fact presets are just saved settings, so everything a preset can do can be done with settings. To compile the synopses of your draft, click the blue expansion arrow to reveal all settings, and then click on the Formatting pane. Just put checkmarks in in the “Synopsis” column, and remove any checkmarks for things you don’t want to see, like the full manuscript “Text”. You may also want to see “Titles”.

In Windows, the “Outliner” preset will compile the Title and Synopsis for you. As Ioa says, the preset is just saved compile settings, so if you want to make further tweaks or just take a look under the hood to see how it’s donw, click the blue arrow to expand the window and then check out or modify the settings there.

AmberV I couldn’t find it in my manual, so it must have been in something I read online along with what I what I was reading in the manual.
Thanks so much for all of the help - now I’m able to pull out my synopsis.

Okay, thanks for checking!
