In the compiler, for Table of Contents, I have unchecked Title and Text, and yet, when I compile, I still get the Scrivener generated “Chapter One” but following that is “- folder name” With these unchecked, the Folder Name should never appear as part of the TOC.
So I worked through this with someone much more competent in Scrivener than myself, and this is what he came up with.
The problem is this:
(1) the beta acts as if the “Title” checkbox is checked in Compile when it’s NOT — but only for the TOC, not for the document.
(2)The OP added Chapter <$title> to the Prefix or it was built into the project template he used.
(3) The combination of #1 and #2 means the document compiles with only one chapter number, but the TOC compiles with two.
(4) The solution was to CHECK the checkbox but eliminate the other chapter number in Prefix.
Hi Smooshfaced,
Can you please give me some more information in order to replicate this?
-
What Project Template was the project created from? (Blank, Novel, Non-Fiction, etc.)
-
What were you compiling to? (pdf, .docx, epub, etc.)
-
What Compile Format was being used to compile? (Default, Paperback, Screenplay, etc.)
-
When you say you unticked, are you talking about the Section Layouts pane of the Edit Compile Format window?
-
And Finally, was this a TOC you created using Copy Special > to TOC, or was it auto created for kindle?
Thank you for your clarifications.
- Novel
- epub and mobi
- ebook
- Yes, in the Section Layouts section
