I couldn’t find an answer to this searching the forum. I uploaded a Microsoft Word document to Scrivener and I’ve done a considerable amount of work on it since then. However, when I compile it to a mobi file, I’ve noticed that some parts are shaded in a very light text color, while some sentences look much darker, almost as if the text is bold. On Scrivener, everything looks fine.
Has anyone ran into this issue and found a solution? Thanks.
I would go into the KindleGen compile option pane and enable the source files setting. This will create a folder with stylesheets, HTML files and everything else necessary to create a Mobi book. If you examine those files either in a web browser or with a text editor, reading the source, do you see what the problem might be? It would be helpful to really know, for example, if you are looking at bold text or not.
Thanks, for the suggestion. Everything looks fine when I view the source files on the web. Also, on the Kindle Previewer there’s no problems. It seems to be limited to my Kindle. It’s strange, though, because I haven’t noticed that problem with other books I’ve been reading, so I don’t think there’s a problem with my ereader.
I have several Kindles I could test with if you would like for me to verify the problem on a second device. Just send me a PM with the .mobi as an attachment, or if you’d prefer, to our main support e-mail address, with this thread URL included so that whoever receives it can direct it to me. Let me know the following:
Which model you observed the problem on.
The location number for a section that renders correctly.
Location # of a section that renders incorrectly.
Off-hand I can’t think of anything that would cause formatting to appear different on a device than in Previewer though. In theory if you set Previewer to Paperwhite and then drop the .mobi onto a Paperwhite, they should be identical.
