Text insists on being purple

Scrivener 2.6
OSX 10.10.3

Type is purple. Even when it’s changed through various techniques (right click; click and hold to select color; everything we can think of) it will change to the chosen color–black–but then shifts back to purple as soon as the cursor is put back into the document to continue typing. We’ve reset to defaults for composition, appearance, and formatting.

(It’s my daughter’s licensed copy that’s acting up, but I’m writing on her behalf because she’s trying to meet a deadline.)

Console.app gives us this info when we reproduce the behavior–it’s trying but not succeeding at doing something that may or may not be related to text color. . . .

If you …

  1. CMD A to select all the text
  2. Change the colour of the font
  3. Put the cursor back in the text and type again

Still purple?

Is the text purple in all text documents, or just one rogue document?

Check that the Revisions color isn’t set. Go to Format->Revision Mode and make sure that ‘None’ is selected. Note that SHIFT-F5 is how the default purple (fifth revision) is turned on in the keyboard shortcuts.

I hope that helps.

THANK YOU BOTH!

Answers: Select-all had been one of the previous things attempted and didn’t work. Confirmed that it was one rogue file.

AND: Yes! Revisions color apparently got set wrong. Many thanks. We’d bashed around looking for items like that which might have been inadvertently checked/unchecked but missed that one.

My daughter is extremely grateful. So am I: stress levels around here have suddenly and dramatically decreased {grin}.
