Text Link to Website

In my experience highlighting text and using the cmd>k keys opens up a box that allows you to insert a URL to create a clickable link embedded in the text of a document, but I’ll be darned if I can figure out how to accomplish this in Scrivener. I have searched the manual and FAQ’s and can’t find anything… Is this possible in Scrivener?

Cmd-k is the Scrivener command for ‘Split Document’.

The feature you want is Edit Link… (Add Link is a link to another Scrivener document.)

I don’t think it has a shortcut by default, but I it’s on the Edit > Edit Link menu, so you can add a shortcut yourself in the normal way (in System Preferences). It’s also on the context menu if you select the URL under Make Link.

HTH

Using what software? MS Word?

Cmd-k is Add Link in Mail and TextEdit as well.

… which only says that it is used in that way by Apple. Cmd-K in Scrivener Splits the text at the position where the cursor is. A very handy thing when you import large chunks of text or when you decide to split a part of the text in smaller pieces.

So I guess Cmd-K was already taken for another purpose than inserting links.

Thanks Brookter, but I am not finding “edit>edit link” in either the menu bar or the contextual menus. See attached.

Thanks,
Jerry

Add link… Isn’t that what you are looking for?

… or is that for something else? I must admit I never included URL’s in my text, I think? But when I think about it, I did, using Add link.

So I tested.

“Add link” gives you the option to choose what kind of link you want to add. So it’s what you are looking for.

Bingo. Not sure how I missed that. I think I read that “Add Link” was to link internally in Scrivener. At any rate… THANKS…!!!

Happy linking!
