I’m running windows xp - ancient I know, but it still works nicely - on my desktop at home.
Looking forward to installing the Linux version on my netbook that runs Ubuntu for away from home writing sessions.
I just want to say a big THANK YOU! For the past year I’ve been experimenting with different writing software trying to find that one that works for me. I can now say that that search is over! Scrivener has everything that I was looking for in an editor, and while the windows beta has a few kinks, it still does all the necessary tasks - writing and word count!
Here’s the few issues I’ve had with it:
Slow loading between parts - I have 188 text pieces separated into a total of 30 chapter folders, those 30 chapter folders separated into 8 Sequence folders which are further separated into 4 different Act folders. It makes for a lot of parts, and to click in the binder to move between them takes a good 5 -10 seconds to load. I work around this by editing in the full draft mode and scrolling to the part I want.
Program Crash - About the time after I’d finished creating said structure above and saved it, I went to start working on one of the parts. It crashed, just closing the program as if I’d hit the Exit button. But not a big deal since I didn’t lose any of my work, and I haven’t had the problem since.
Formatting - Now this may just be user error, but I’m having trouble formatting the style of the text. I can’t select the entire draft, just the individual text pieces to format the size and font one at a time. A lot of work for 188 of them.
Also, I noticed that text I’ve copied from a web page absolutely refuses to be formatted style-wise. It will not change font or size.
Again, thank you for bringing Scrivener to Windows and Linux! You’ve made my year!
