the Italian dictionary is too poor compared to other writing software, you have to improve it :frowning:

The English dictionary isnā€™t up to snuff, either. Not just that itā€™s U.S.A.-centric, itā€™s missing a lot of words most Americans expect to find, too.

Since there are no standards, though, itā€™s going to be an uphill battle to solve this whole dictionary thing.

Actually, I think thereā€™s something wrong with Scrivenerā€™s use of Aspell in the case of Italian in particular. The downloaded dictionary is much, much smaller than other languages with similar roots (like French and Spanish), whereas the dictionaries available here for GNU Aspell have comparable sizes.

Maybe something got lost in repacking ASpell into Scrivener for some languages?

I thought the French dictionary was poor too. I keep clicking on ā€œknow spellingā€ (or what ever this function name is in English, sorry!) :stuck_out_tongue:

If I have a request for French dictionary, it would be to make Scrivener and Scapple compatible with a very well made French dictionary / corrector, which is ā€œAntidoteā€ from Druide (antidote.info/) As far as I know, itā€™s a very popular software and can run ā€œoverā€ other software when they are compatible (itā€™s the case for Windows Words, for example) but Iā€™m not sure if itā€™s on Druide side or Literature and Latte that this change can be done :stuck_out_tongue:
