the Italian dictionary is too poor compared to other writing software, you have to improve it
The English dictionary isnāt up to snuff, either. Not just that itās U.S.A.-centric, itās missing a lot of words most Americans expect to find, too.
Since there are no standards, though, itās going to be an uphill battle to solve this whole dictionary thing.
Actually, I think thereās something wrong with Scrivenerās use of Aspell in the case of Italian in particular. The downloaded dictionary is much, much smaller than other languages with similar roots (like French and Spanish), whereas the dictionaries available here for GNU Aspell have comparable sizes.
Maybe something got lost in repacking ASpell into Scrivener for some languages?
I thought the French dictionary was poor too. I keep clicking on āknow spellingā (or what ever this function name is in English, sorry!)
If I have a request for French dictionary, it would be to make Scrivener and Scapple compatible with a very well made French dictionary / corrector, which is āAntidoteā from Druide (antidote.info/) As far as I know, itās a very popular software and can run āoverā other software when they are compatible (itās the case for Windows Words, for example) but Iām not sure if itās on Druide side or Literature and Latte that this change can be done
